Fees and Rebates
Clients can claim a rebate from:
Private Health Insurance
If the client has appropriate cover they can claim through their private health insurance.
Medicare Rebates
As announced by the Federal Government on the 9th October 2006, Medicare will now provide rebates under the "Better Access to Mental Health Care Scheme" to clients who are treated by a Registered Psychologist. A client must be referred by their GP who will review progress after session six and twelve with the Psychologist. The GP must complete a GP Mental Healthcare Plan, register it with Medicare and forward a copy to the Psychologist. A Mental Health Care Plan must be in place to be able to claim a rebate.
Under the Mental Health Care Plan, clients can claim up to twelve sessions per calendar year for individual Counselling. In exceptional circumstances this can be extended by a further six sessions. Alternatively there is the Chronic Disease Management Scheme which allows up to five allied health sessions per calendar year.
